Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis for Optimizing CO2 and NH3 Removal by Scenedesmus dimorphus Photobioreactors

Numerous technologies have been investigated for mitigating air pollutant emissions from swine barns. Among them, algal photobioreactors (PBRs) can remove and utilize pollutants such as CO2 NH3 barn exhaust. However, a challenge to PBR operation is that it involves multiple system input parameters output goals. A key question then how determine the appropriate concentrations in this case. Conventional statistical methods are inadequate handling complex problem. Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) emerges practical methodology comparison be utilized rank different CO2–NH3 interactions based on their environmental biological performance. By employing MCDM methods, producers effectively control ratio of concentrations, enabling them identify optimal range operating various housing types, ensuring efficient mitigation. In study, multi-criteria approach was employed support management. Specifically, influent were optimized three scenarios (the best biological, environmental, overall performance), using combination two techniques. This study anticipated facilitate analysis optimization algae-based phytoremediation processes.
